I’m so excited to announce that this February, Sew a Softie partners with the Children’s Museum of the Arts, New York City<\/a> as part of their CIVICKIDS<\/a> campaign to host a Global Kids Sewing Party. Sew a Softie invites everyone, any where in the world with kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews, a school class, a sewing group or club to join in.<\/p>\n

The campaign\u2019s theme for February is kindness and caring.<\/h4>\n

The children participating will be joining in to sew a softie to give to someone in their community. The recipient may be a friend, a family member, an elderly neighbour, a local hospital, a nursing home, library, shelter or anyone whom they wish to reach out to.<\/p>\n

Communities around the world are realising the importance of empowering even young children to take civic responsibility.<\/h4>\n

The aim of the party is to promote children\u2019s civic engagement by having them sew a softie and gift it to someone in their community.\u00a0By showing children that they can both have fun and make a difference in someone\u2019s life the Sew a Softie Global Kid\u2019s Sewing Party hopes to help children see for themselves that they don\u2019t need to wait till they are adults to contribute meaningfully to their community.<\/p>\n
