Are you looking for an easy sewing project for your kids or students that’s perfect for Mothers Day or Valentines Day or any day really? Well then this DIY speech bubble sewing project might just be what you’re looking for.<\/p>\n

Glue on a magnet and it can live on your fridge to hold important notes. Fridge magnets do seem to be an almost universal addition to every fridge. And why not\u2026they’re useful…and are often a small reminder of a recent vacation\u2026and they can also be a simple gift for kids to sew.<\/p>\n

You’ll find instructions for two slightly different speech bubbles below. The step by step photos for one and the video tutorial for a slightly different speech bubble. Both are easy sewing projects and a lovely handmade gift to give to a loved one.<\/p>\n

WHAT YOU NEED<\/b><\/h2>\n

22cm X 28cm piece of white felt<\/a><\/p>\n

6cm X 6cm square of orange felt<\/a><\/p>\n

6cm X 6cm square of yellow felt<\/a><\/p>\n

Needle<\/a><\/p>\n

Pins or sewing clips<\/a><\/p>\n

Thread<\/p>\n

Polyester fibrefill<\/a><\/p>\n

Two strong magnets<\/p>\n

Hot glue gun<\/a><\/p>\n

Scissors<\/a><\/p>\n

WHAT TO DO<\/b>

Fold the piece of white felt in half. Draw a speech bubble on one side and cut out to make two equal sized speech bubbles.<\/p>\n

Here’s a speech bubble template<\/a> if you want. Cut out a heart from the orange felt and a letter U from the yellow felt. The video below shows a slightly different way of sewing the speech bubble. I’ve avoided sewing the little tag in the video to make it easier to sew.<\/p>\n

Use a running stitch<\/a> to sew or glue the heart and the letter U onto one of the speech bubbles.<\/p>\n

Glue the magnets into place on the remaining speech bubble.<\/p>\n

Place the two speech bubbles one on top of the other. Pin and sew together. Remember to leave a 5cm opening for stuffing.<\/p>\n

Stuff with a small amount of polyester fibrefill and sew the opening closed.<\/p>\n

Now all your kids need to do is write their Mother’s Day note and stick it to the Fridge.<\/div>\n
